I have met this error many times when I was running Windows/Microsoft update:Windows/Microsoft update error:0×8024402F.I searched Google,Baidu and many other search engines,I could not resole this error according to their methods.
generally,there are several methods bellow:
1,download a DLL file and replace it with the system file.
2,download and install one hotfix the one published on 2004.
3,delete some system cache files.
4,using “proxycfg  -d” command
5,using gpedit.msc
==,many others which use the same method,Chinese,English and so on.I tried all of them but none of them was useful for me.
I connect to the Internet using proxy server which is the different from their direct connection.
But when I connect to the Internet directly with no proxy server,I run the Windows/Microsoft update with no problem.So,I certain that the problem come out with the way of using proxy server!My system is NOT broken!
Recently,I opened the “HTTP SSL” service by accident and from then on,I found I can run the Windows/Microsoft update with no errors!
I use the original Windows XP professional edition,I found that the “HTTP SSL” service was closed by default!
Googling “HTTP SSL” get the result which I can not understand……
Anything,I resoled my problem~haha!
